Virtual Course:

Systems Thinking Leadership Module

Client: Systainability Asia

Date: 2022

Summary: Developing curriculum and resources for an online synthesis module on using system thinking to promote sustainability and circular economics leadership as part of a course through Tongji University.

Learning Format: A one day virtual training module

Project Overview

Design and build a virtual learning module using the VISIS Pyramid and interactive whiteboard Miro to teach participants how to use systems thinking to innovate for a circular economy. This was the summative synthesis module in a Sustainability and Circular Economy Leadership course.

The Goal

Through collaboration with the subject-matter experts on the Systainability Asia team, I utilized my knowledge of the Pyramid tool and Miro to develop curriculum and content for an 8-hour interactive module applying systems thinking to create a ‘Circular Economy Blueprint’ for an Asian city scenario, linked with the UN SDGs. We recruited facilitators to review and assist with facilitating the module.

The Learning Experience

  • 30 mid- to senior-level individuals working in government, civil sector, NGOs, or the private sector in Asia with new tools and knowledge to apply systems thinking to circular economics and create more sustainable cities.

  • A replicable curriculum and learning resource for Systainability Asia to utilize in future training and courses.
